Art editor + illustrator
I'm Andy Richards, yes, I'm Peanut. Small and tough to crack, not usually... it was my son's nickname before he was born (because he looked like a Peanut in the ultrasound). Three weeks before his birth, Peanut Design was born (although with far less gas, air and profanity).
I've been toiling away with print and digital design, illustration, animation and art direction to publishers and SMEs, for 21 years. Home is my south London studio, or anywhere with good coffee and toilet facilities.
In those years I have worked on many subjects and sectors. Could I give a lecture on the inner-workings of hedge funds, supply chains or neo-realist cinema. Probably shouldn't 't. But I can turn these concepts into striking and simple designs. They make me a better designer.
I've had the privilege of working with some great people with great ideas, from national newspapers, high-end magazines, studios and on small projects. And the chance to work on many formats, platforms and disciplines.
I have an art and graphic design background, experience in print and production and journalism and creative writing. I also studied photography and film editing. And, briefly, dabbled in art of Mexican cooking.
I’ve worked for EMAP, Dow Jones, Euromoney, News International, Wilmington, BBC, Newtrade, Discover Tourism as well as weird indie bands, local theatres, authors and people standing casually at bus stops. Here's a list...
